The digital alternative
zu Karteikarten, Excel & Co.

The standard software Service (SaaS) for digital case files in the Support system according to EU Directive 2024/1385 to combat violence against women and domestic violence and the Istanbul Convention.

INTERVENT is the software for recording case data and statistical analysis for your intervention center, women's shelter, counseling center for victims of sexualized violence, and school social work. It supports the implementation of the state violence protection laws.

3 good reasons

for your digitization task

1. Time savings

The database-based case file in INTERVENT enables significant time savings compared to analog management of your cases. Through fast and precise data capture, staff can spend more time directly addressing the needs of those affected instead of being occupied with time-consuming administrative tasks. The result is more effective use of resources and a faster response to current challenges.

2. Consistency

Compared to manual transfer of statistical data and the consolidation of multiple sources, INTERVENT significantly reduces susceptibility to errors. The software minimizes the risk of transfer mistakes, incomplete datasets, or incorrect information. Precise capture and storage of data ensures a reliable and consistent database. This is crucial for the reliability of reports and statistics that provide an accurate insight into your organization’s work.

3. Timeliness

INTERVENT enables the creation of up-to-date daily statistics, which is particularly important for tracking current trends and developments. The ability to access current data at any time allows strategies and measures to be adapted quickly. This is especially relevant in dynamic work environments where fast decisions must be made. The integrated reporting module makes it just as easy to create annual reports as it is to produce ad hoc analyses at any desired time.

The widespread use of INTERVENT not only enables more efficient work processes, but also—through the extensive standardization of data entry forms—nationwide comparability of all data.

FAQ - Questions and Answers

on security, usability, costs, and requirements

Who has access to my case files?

There are 3 roles with the following permissions:

  1. Facility counseling/advising (Role 1)
    1. may view, edit, and delete all case files of their own facility in full
    2. May create anonymous statistics for their own institution
  2. Facility administration (Role 2)
    1. No access whatsoever to case files
    2. May create anonymous statistics for their own institution
    3. May create, edit, and delete counseling accounts (Role 1) for their own institution
  3. Coordination office (Role 3)
    1. No access whatsoever to case files
    2. May create anonymous statistics of all women's shelters in their federal state that use INTERVENT
    3. No rights to create new counseling, administration, or coordination accounts

All roles of a specific state instance of INTERVENT are part of a shared workspace and differ in their permissions.

Who assigns the role permissions?

Role permissions can only be assigned or changed in the administrative backend by authorized persons from the software provider.

A data processing agreement governs the group of persons and the software provider’s permissions for assigning role permissions.

Where is the data stored?

The personal data is stored encrypted in a database. The database server is located in a large German data center that is ISO 27001 certified and meets the highest security standards. Backups of the encrypted database are stored on a server in Frankfurt. No data is stored on your local system.

Is INTERVENT GDPR-compliant?

INTERVENT enables GDPR-compliant work. In development, we follow the recommendations of the BSI standards. Our company is monitored by external data protection officers (DPO) and information security officers (ISO). Internally, we already work according to the standards of ISO 27001 and apply the IT baseline protection. For secure operation within the institutions, experienced experts ensure this, whom we can connect you with upon request. All new and further developments implement the current state of the art.

Is INTERVENT user-friendly and accessible?

The modern user interface is quickly comprehensible and largely prevents possible incorrect entries. Pop-up boxes with help texts provide additional information in some places when hovered over with the mouse. The usability of the program has been tried and tested for many years and is confirmed by users. Maximum accessibility was taken into account during development.

Is it possible to switch to INTERVENT?

In principle, we adapt INTERVENT to the specific content-related needs of the institutions. If existing data is available in a structured data format, we can map it at the database level to the appropriate INTERVENT data fields and import it for you, with costs calculated based on the required effort.

We also have an outpatient counseling center.

If you operate an outpatient counseling center in parallel with your women’s shelter, it is possible to work jointly on case files. In addition, the counseling center can record statistically relevant data via its own separate click counter enabled specifically for it, which can be evaluated anonymously and separately by a higher-level coordinating body.

What are secure passwords?

Always generate individual passwords using a random generator. A secure password consists of at least 12–16 characters and contains uppercase/lowercase letters, digits, and special characters. You can find some basic rules in the BSI PDF fact sheet. In addition, the BSI recommends the use of a password manager.

What does INTERVENT cost?

Operating cloud-based software with sensitive data requires appropriate infrastructure on the provider’s side. The costs for staff, technology, data protection, Support, updates, and administration are shared proportionally among all users and calculated as a low monthly price per user. A one-time setup fee is charged for the initial setup of district names and access credentials. Special requests, extensions, or changes are calculated separately at the current daily rate.

We will be happy to provide exact prices upon request by email to fragen@INTERVENT- Statistics software.de or by phone at 0391-5495939.

Why is it safer to store case files in a cloud?

In-house infrastructure generally has a significantly lower level of security than professionally maintained server farms run by cloud Service providers. Particularly in Germany, the strictest data protection rules apply. Countless employees work full-time on further developing defense mechanisms and safeguarding data. In a counseling center, thefts of printed case files from unlocked folder shelves would be much easier—and more consequential. Often, counseling centers have no dedicated staff member at all for theinternal security.

Which Windows version is required?

INTERVENT is browser-based and is independent of the operating system and its version. For security reasons, a current operating system and a well-secured browser are of course always recommended.

Is internet required?

Yes. However, a connection with average speed (e.g., DSL, LTE) is sufficient.

Can case files be transferred to other institutions?

The Violence Assistance Act (GewHG) provides for the possibility that case files and information about persons affected by violence can be transferred between institutions to ensure continuous Support.

In the future, ownership of case files can be transferred within a federal state from one institution to another institution of the same type.

For transfer into INTERVENT versions of other federal states, an export of structured data is planned. In doing so, individual requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and of the Bundesdatenschutzgesetzes (BDSG) sowie die Datenbankstruktur der Zieleinrichtung berücksichtigt werden.

If personal data is to be transferred, the verifiable consent of the affected person must be obtained beforehand.

The structured data can then be transmitted in encrypted form to other institutions via a secure transmission channel.

Are individual statistics possible?

The selection of statistical tables to be output is permanently integrated into INTERVENT for each role according to the client’s specifications. The scope of the anonymous data output differs depending on the role, so that each role is provided only with the data actually needed. Roles cannot define or change the content of their statistics themselves. For counseling access, there is the option of obtaining individual case totals by combining filters.

How and where are statistics generated?

Statistics are generated in the frontend of the client computer. For this purpose, only anonymous data without personal details is transmitted from the server to the frontend via an SSL-encrypted connection and decrypted there using the cross-role key. The scope of the data differs by role and is limited to the absolute minimum for coordination offices.

Which antivirus software is recommended?

The decision for suitable antivirus protection depends on the specific requirements and preferences. If applicable, the provider/organization may specify a protection software.

An AI-based research (as of 05/2025) provides the following recommendations:

  • For comprehensive protection: G DATA Internet Security or Bitdefender Internet Security are excellent choices.

  • For additional features: Avira Prime and McAfee Total Protection offer useful extras in addition to basic protection.

  • For free basic protection: Bitdefender Antivirus Free is one of the best free options.
